Serious motor vehicle crash – Forestry Road at Sprent

At 6:55 am Sunday 19 May 2024, Police were advised of a single vehicle crash at an unknown location in a forestry plantation in Sprent.

A 37 year old alerted emergency services, advising that a 41 year old male was still trapped in the vehicle.

Significant resources from Police, SES and Tasmania Ambulance Service were deployed to the area, including the Rescue Helicopter.

Following an extensive search of the area, the vehicle was located and the 41 year old passenger extracted, stabilised, then transported by ambulance to the Sprent School oval and transferred into the care of the rescue helicopter and flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital for surgery.

The 37 year old male was treated at the scene, before being conveyed to the North West Regional Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

The incident is currently being investigated by Western Crash Investigation Services.
