Serious motor cycle crash in Claremont

About 9.55 pm on Monday 7 March 2011 Police received a report of a serious motor cycle crash on Esdaile Street, Claremont.

It appears an unregistered white Yamaha trail bike was travelling on Esdaile Street from Abbotsfield Road towards Adelphi Road when it has collided with a parked vehicle.  The bike was travelling through a left hand downhill bend in the road when it collided with the vehicle.

Witnesses had seen the vehicle on Abbotsfield Road shortly before the crash.  The bike was not fitted with lighting.  It appears the rider did not have his helmet strap fastened correctly.

The 17 year old male rider from Claremont, was transported via ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.

Police would like to speak with any member of the public who may have witnessed the crash or saw a white Yamaha trail bike in the Claremont area around the time of the crash.  Information can be past on to Police at the Glenorchy Police Station by telephoning 131444.
