Serious Injury crash Railton Road

At about 5.35pm Thursday 10/10/2013 a single vehicle collision occurred on Railton Road, approximately 40 meters south from Dawsons Siding Road.

A maroon coloured 1992 Mazda 626 was being driven towards Railton by a 75 year old man, when he lost control of the vehicle. The left side tyres travelled onto the gravel at the side of the road. The driver was unable to regain control and the vehicle hit a tree.

As a result of the collision, the front seat passenger, an 11 year old female also from Railton, suffered life threatening head injuries. She was transported directly to the LGH.

The driver was conveyed to the NWRH at Burnie with non life-threatening injuries and remains in a stable condition.

Railton Road was closed until about 10.30pm whilst investigations were carried out and the scene cleared.
