On Saturday 17^th July at approximately 2.50pm Police were notified of a single vehicle motorcycle crash on the Tasman Highway, Rocky Hills, approximately 10km south of Swansea.

A 19 year old male rider had failed to negotiate a right hand bend and collided with the guard rail.  The rider was thrown from the motorcycle over the guard rail and as a result sustained serious injuries.  The rider was stabilised by Ambulance Tasmania and a doctor at the scene with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter used to convey the rider to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

The rider was one of a group of 4 riders who had ridden to Swansea from Hobart and were returning to Hobart.

Anyone who may have witness the motorcycles prior to the crash are asked to contact Police on 131444.
