Approximately 5.20pm on Tuesday the 22 March 2011 a blue Daihatsu Charade being driven by a 55 year old male from Glenorchy crashed into a power pole on the Tasman Highway Sorell. 

The male was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The crash has occurred approximately 2.5 kilometres north of central Sorell.  The vehicle was travelling north out of Sorell at the time of the crash.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was extricated by emergency service personnel.  The driver was then conveyed by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.

The investigator, Constable Caswell, would like to hear from any member of the public that may have witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle immediately prior to the incident.
