Serious Crash Midland Highway Perth
At 11.33am on Friday 8th February 2013, a serious crash has occurred on the Midland Highway at Perth, just north of the South Esk River.
A silver Toyota Corolla hatch, driven by a 60 year old female from Virginia, USA, has been travelling south on the Midland Highway and commenced turning right into the driveway of a Nursing Home.
A red Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by a 44 year old Victorian male, has been following the Toyota hatch and attempted to overtake the turning hatch, on the right side.
The motorcycle has impacted into the front right of the hatch and the rider has been thrown from the motorcycle. As a result of impacting into the ground the motorcycle rider was conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital with serious spinal injuries.
The 60 year old female driver of the Toyota and her 58 year old male passenger, also from Virginia, USA, were not injured in the crash.
Northern Crash Investigation Services attended the scene and are conducting an investigation into the crash. Any person who may have observed either vehicle in the area prior to the crash are asked to contact police on 63363936 or 63363701.
