Serious Crash – Esk Main Road – Conara

At about 1405 hrs on Monday 1 October 2012, a black 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was travelling east on Esk Main Road, Conara, approximately 10 kilometres east of the Midlands Highway.  

On a straight section of road, the Mitsubishi crossed to the incorrect side of the road and collided with a blue Daihatsu hatch, which was travelling in the opposite direction.  A blue Mazda sedan travelling behind the Daihatsu and was also involved in the collision.

Tasmania Police, Tasmania Ambulance Service and State Emergency Service Volunteers attended the crash.  The occupants of the vehicles were transported to the Launceston General Hospital by ambulance.  The 47 year old female driving the Daihatsu was assessed as being in a serious condition.  The other occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash sustained non life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Tasmania Police.  Anyone who saw any of the vehicles prior to the crash is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
