Serious Crash – Elderslie Road, Broadmarsh.
At approximately 3:49pm on Wednesday the 31st of October 2012 a single vehicle crash occurred on Elderslie Road at Broadmarsh. The white Toyota Dina truck that was travelling north ran off the road and down a 3 meter embankment where it hit a tree stump head on.
The elderly male occupant was trapped in the vehicle for approximately two (2) hours due to his legs being crushed by the extensive front end damage to the vehicle.
Tasmania Police, including Accident Investigation Services, Tasmania Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Tasmanian Ambulance Service all attended the scene and assisted in freeing the male from the vehicle. He was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
The road was closed for approximately four (4) hours with minor disruption to traffic due to it being diverted. Investigations are continuing into the cause of the crash.
