Serious crash Brooker Highway

Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred at about 9:45pm last night.

A 29-year-old Brighton man suffered serious injuries when he lost control of his Honda 1000cc motorcycle and crashed near the BP service station on the Brooker Highway at North Hobart.

Police had earlier witnessed the motorcycle travelling erratically and had attempted to intercept the rider. Police discontinued the attempt to intercept when the rider increased speed and police lost sight of the motorcycle.  A short time later they came across the crash scene.

In circumstances where police have had recent contact with a person who has received injuries of this nature, normal protocol is that Professional Standards attend the scene and leads the investigation, reporting to the Deputy Commissioner Scott Tilyard.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Crash Investigation Services on 6230 2326.
