At 8.30am on Wednesday 10^th April 2013, a serious crash occurred on the corner of Balfour and Bathurst Streets, Launceston.

A 69 seat 2010 white BCI passenger bus, driven by a 50 year old Devonport man, has been travelling east on Balfour street and commenced turning left into Bathurst Street.  The bus has then run over a 52 year old woman from Newnham, who was crossing Bathurst Street, at the pedestrian crossing.  The victim suffered serious leg injuries and is being flown via air ambulance to Melbourne for emergency treatment.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this crash and the driver of the bus is assisting police with enquires.
