Serious crash at Old Beach
At approximately 7.15pm on Thursday the 8th March 2012, a serious motor vehicle crash has occurred on the East Derwent Highway at Old Beach.
The crash involved two vehicles – a white Toyota Camry station wagon and a red Mazda hatch. The Camry was travelling north on the East Derwent Highway and the Mazda was travelling south.
It appears that the Mazda has lost control and slid sideways into the path of the Camry. The female driver of the Mazda sustained serious chest and internal injuries. The male driver of the Camry received non life threatening injuries. Both were trapped in their vehicles, before being removed from the vehicles and conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Police would like to speak to any motorists travelling on the East Derwent Highway at Old Beach and any persons in the area, who witnessed the crash or who may have observed either vehicle prior to the crash occurring.
