Serious crash – Arthur Highway, Taranna

At approximately 09:20am police and emergency services were called to attend a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of the Arthur Highway and Nubeena Road Taranna.

The crash involved a motor bike and light truck.

The motor bike rider was airlifted by the Westpac Rescue helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical but stable condition after being treated and stabilised by emergency services at the scene.

Investigations at the scene revealed the truck driver had failed to give way to oncoming traffic before commencing a right hand turn resulting in the motor bike colliding head on with the truck.

Speed and alcohol were not a contributing factor to the crash.

Tasmania police wish to remind motorists to remain alert, drive with attention and consider other road users when driving on country roads.
