Serious Crash Arthur Highway
SERIOUS CRASH – ARTHUR HIGHWAY PORT ARTHUR
At approximately 17:50 on Tuesday 22/12/2015 police and emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on the Arthur Highway Port Arthur, north of the Historic Site. The vehicle carrying five occupants was travelling South when it failed to negotiate a bend, crossing the road, and impacting with a tree. The vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road. The highway remained shut for several hours and traffic was diverted through Koonya.
Three injured occupants were flown by Westpac Rescue helicopters to the RHH and two more were conveyed by ambulance. Two passengers remain in a critical condition and two other passengers are listed as serious but stable.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation. Police are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Dunalley Police Station on 03 6253 6066 or police enquiries on 131 444.
