Serious Assault – Launceston CBD 24/2/2015 – Charges laid
Detectives from Northern CIB investigating a serious assault, which occurred on 24th February 2015, have charged two young men. A 17yo and 18yo were arrested by detectives in the Launceston CBD yesterday.
The serious assault occurred in the early hours of 24/2/2015 in the LAFM carpark near the Charles St laneway entrance.
The victim, a 49 year old man, sustained fractures to his face and ribs as well as cuts, bruises and swelling. He was located at the scene by a passer-by, who contacted the Tasmanian Ambulance Service. He was taken to the LGH for treatment.
The alleged offenders were interviewed and charged with Criminal Code assault and have been bailed to appear at the Launceston’s Magistrates court at a later date.
A third suspect has been identified but, has not yet been interviewed.
The victim is still at the LGH receiving treatment for his injuries but is in a stable condition.
