Around 1pm on 23/11/11 a serious assault is alleged to have occurred at a private address in Allenby St, Mowbray.

A 47 year old female is alleged to have attended the residence and once inside was seriously assaulted by a male person already at the address.  The female has managed to flee the address and was assisted by members of the public shortly thereafter. She was taken to the Launceston General Hospital where her injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident which is not believed to be domestically related.
