At approximately 7:25am today, police were called to a report of a serious assault that occurred at 126 Risdon Road, Lutana, earlier this morning.

Police attended in conjunction with the Tasmanian Ambulance Service.

Early investigations have revealed that a 43 year old male from the address has been subjected a serious and potentially prolonged assault at that residence.

The male is receiving treatment at the Royal Hobart Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Glenorchy CIB, Glenorchy Uniform and Tasmania Police Forensic Services members are currently at the residence which has been declared a crime scene.

A 28 year old male from Glenorchy is in police custody relevant to this incident.

At this stage investigations are continuing.
