Sadly, the 5-year-old girl who was involved in a fatal house fire at Rokeby has passed away overnight. 

This follows the tragic death of her 22-month-old sister on Sunday. 

Our thoughts are with the girls’ family and loved ones at this difficult time. 

A 30-year-old remains in a stable condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital. 

The 16-month-old, 10-year-old, and 14-year-old have been discharged from hospital and into the care of their families. 

The TFS fire investigation has determined there are no suspicious circumstances, with the fire originating in the lounge room. 

A report will be prepared for the Coroner who will determine the cause of the deaths. 

Expressing his thoughts for all affected by the fire, Deputy Chief Operations, Matt Lowe, said “The impacts of this tragic fire have been felt by so many, and our deepest condolences are with everyone affected.” 

“I’d like to thank the local community for their assistance, especially the neighbours who came to the aid of those affected.” 

“The scene and investigation have been traumatic, and it’s had a significant impact on first responders who have done an incredible job under extreme circumstances. They are commended for their actions and will be supported by our Wellbeing Support team.”
