Search Updates – People Missing in Floodwaters
Searches will resume this morning for two people swept away by floodwaters at Ouse and Evandale.
An 81 year old man was swept away by floodwaters on his Ouse property while checking his sheep on Monday.
The flood waters surrounding the property where the man was swept away have started to abate, however the area is still significantly affected by flood waters.
Search efforts will resume shortly focussed on the Ouse River as the water slowly recedes.
In the north, a land search party will continue searching the South Esk River for a 63 year old man. The man and his female companion drove into floodwaters and their car was swept from Leighlands Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The woman was later rescued by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and she was released from hospital yesterday afternoon.
Today’s search will be land based, from Leylands Road to Perth, and boats will be used if it’s safe to do so.
Police are liaising with the families of the two men, and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
