Search for missing man near Cremorne – update
The extensive land, air and sea search for the remaining man missing in waters off Cremorne in Southern Tasmania has been formally suspended late this afternoon, and his family have been informed of this.
Police will continue to follow up any leads in relation to the missing 35-year old New Zealand man, and the public are encouraged to contact police if they have any information.
“Any information relevant to the man’s disappearance will be thoroughly investigated and we hope to bring closure to his family,” Commander Tony Cerritelli said.
Police would like to thank the overwhelming number of volunteers who assisted in the search for the four men, who went missing in waters off Cremorne on a fishing trip on Sunday 31 July.
The bodies of Magnus Julian Ritter, 34, of Cambridge and Luke William Davies, 32, of Mt Nelson were recovered from waters near Sloping Main on Monday 1 August.
DNA testing confirmed that remains found on Friday 12 August were that of Aleksandar Drobnjak, 26, of Rosny.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner regarding the incident. Our thoughts are with the families involved.
