Search for missing fishermen

Tasmania Police are searching for two fishermen whose overturned dinghy was located near Port Davey about 1.20pm 18 June 2012.

The fishermen are believed to have set out in the dinghy from their crayfishing vessel yesterday evening in order to set pots. They were the only crew members on board the vessel.

Just after 11am this morning, the men were reported overdue by the crew of another fishing vessel in the area.

The police Westpac rescue helicopter was deployed and has conducted searches of the shore.  It will continue searching until dark.  The PV Vigilant has also been deployed to Port Davey.

Commercial fishing vessels in the vicinity began a search and reported the overturned dinghy about 1.20pm.

The search, which involves four commercial fishing vessels, is continuing for the missing men.
