Search continues for missing men– update 4pm

The search for two missing men in waters off Cremorne in Southern Tasmania will resume in the morning.

The police vessel Van Diemen will remain in the area overnight, and will be joined in the morning by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and other police vessels in their extensive search for the two remaining missing men – a 26 year old Hobart man and a 35 year old New Zealand man – who failed to return from a fishing trip on Sunday.

Inspector Lee Renshaw said that the search would focus on areas previously searched in Frederick Henry Bay, including Norfolk Bay, the area north of Lime Bay State Reserve into the Seven Mile Beach area near Tiger Head Bay and the area around Sloping Main.

It follows the tragic discovery on Monday of the bodies of Magnus Julian Ritter, 34 of Cambridge, and Luke William Davies, 32 of Mt Nelson, who were also on the fishing trip.

The men were reported missing by a family member about 6.45pm on Sunday night after they failed to return from a fishing trip in a 16 foot fibreglass vessel.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner regarding the incident. Our thoughts are with the families involved.
