Search continues for missing man Elson Kiddle
The search for missing West Moonah man, Elson Kiddle, will continue tomorrow after today’s extensive ground and air search failed to locate him.
The location of Mr Hiddle’s white Toyota Hilux ute was reported to police by residents of Lumeah Ave, Lenah Valley this morning and police immediately started searching bushland in the area.
Today’s search consisted of over 50 people including Mr Kiddle’s family, police, SES, and other volunteers. A four square kilometre network of walking and fire trails was extensively searched on foot, with targeted searches also conducted by members of the search party in vehicles.
Resources used include the Search and Rescue helicopter, trail bikes, quad bikes and a specially trained volunteer sniffer dog.
The ground search for Mr Kiddle will continue at 9am tomorrow and efforts will again be concentrated on the Lenah Valley bushland area at the foothills of kunanti/Mount Wellington. Tasmania Police recruits will join tomorrow’s search.
