Scott’s Jewellers Robbery

Burnie Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at Scott’s Jewellers, Wilmot Street, Burnie on the afternoon of Thursday 2 February 2012.

Shortly after 3:30pm a male person entered the store and demanded a quantity of cash and jewelery which he placed into a bag.

Upon leaving the store the offender ran east on Wilmot Street, briefly entered Metro Cinemas and was then apprehended by Police in the multi-storey car park opposite the cinema.

At this time, the alleged offender (a 22-year-old Burnie man), remains in custody and is assisting Detectives with their enquiries. 

Detectives are interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen the pictured vehicle parked opposite Woolworths in Wilmot Streetaround the time of the incident or know those who may currently be using the vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a mid 1980s light green Holden Barina or Suzuki Swift hatch and may have been occupied by two males. It is possibly not displaying registration plates.

The store was open for business at the time of the robbery. The single staff member on the premises at the time did not suffer any physical injuries as a result of the incident.
