School zone traffic operation in southern Tasmania

Glenorchy police conducted a traffic operation in Austins Ferry yesterday and caught 11 drivers speeding through and nearby a local school zone.
Inspector Jason Klug said the drivers were caught travelling more than 40km/h in the school zone, and others were caught exceeding the speed limit on Main Road, Austins Ferry.
“Disappointingly, police also issued an infringement notice to a driver who was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and had not safely restrained a 2-year-old child,” he said.
“We conduct these sorts of operations to keep everyone safe on our roads, and these results from drivers are not good enough.”
“Overwhelmingly most community members do the right thing, but there are still people who appear to think they can flout the rules.”
“Police will continue to conduct high visibility patrols to encourage all drivers to keep themselves, their passengers, and other road users safe by obeying the road rules.”
