Glenorchy CIB has recently observed an increased in occurrences of a suspected ‘false billing’ scam.

A number of businesses in the area have received fax correspondence from an interstate-based company purporting to be sending an invoice for advertising in a publication or magazine.

The scam is achieved by requesting credit card details to compete a transaction for advertising, however often no such publication exists.

The invoices are often professional and realistic, and police would like to remind local businesses to be vigilant and exercise caution in receiving any unusual invoices or correspondence.
