Scam Alert

SCAM ALERT

Please take note and where possible share this advice with your family members, especially your seniors.

Our switchboard operators are once again receiving a large volume of calls relating to telephone scammers.

The majority of the calls are coming from our elderly residents who are most concerned about receiving these demanding and threatening phone calls.

Advice from Scamwatch is:

“Be on guard, if you receive a phone call from someone saying you have an arrest warrant and asking you to pay a fee, hang up and do NOT respond.

If in doubt, don’t use the contact details provided – look up the government department or organisation yourself in the phone book or online and phone or email them”

These scammers are appearing particularly authentic, providing contact details (which are false), aggressive and threatening.

Please reassure your elders, that it is okay to hang up and terminate the call.

You can report a scam online at www.scamwatch.gov.au or phone 1300 795 995.
