Robbery and Assault – Caltex Rosny – 2 October 2020
On Friday the 2nd October 2020, Tasmania Police received a 000 call from a staff member at the Caltex Service Station, Rosny. This was in relation to an alleged robbery.
Numerous police units responded, arriving two minutes after the call. Upon police arrival, a 29 year old male offender and a 26 year old female were observed in the service station. It was ascertained that the male had doused the female, another male customer and himself in accelerant and had threatened to set them alight.
After brief negotiation, the female exited the service station before the male offender exited a short time later. The male offender was arrested without further incident before being held whilst investigations are continuing.
Tasmania Ambulance Service treated a number of people at the scene with none requiring hospitalisation.
