Road safety operation at Murdunna in state’s south
Tasmania Police along with Department of State Growth transport safety officers, conducted a high visibility traffic operation in Murdunna, with a focus on driver behaviour and vehicle safety yesterday.
During the 3 hour operation, over 350 random breath tests were conducted as well as over 20 vehicle inspections.
While it was pleasing to see that most road users were obeying our road rules, the following offences were detected:
3 x positive oral fluid tests for illicit substances
2 x infringement notice were issued for unregistered vehicles
1 x infringement notice was issued for a driver not wearing a seatbelt
20 x light vehicle defect notices were issued, including 2 infringements related to unsafe vehicles.
Disappointingly, a driver was also fined for towing a 1.7 tonne excavator that was unsecured on his trailer.
Remember, road safety operations will continue to be conducted throughout the State, so please do the right thing out on the roads to keep everyone safe.
