Return to school results
On Monday 24 September 2012 police officers in the Northern Police District conducted traffic duties in the vicinity of city and country schools in Northern Tasmania in the morning and afternoon as students returned to school from the holiday period.
Specific attention was given to: speeding vehicles, parking issues, pedestrian safety and unrestrained vehicle occupants.
During the day police detected 10 speeding offences, 1 parking offences, 1 unlicensed driver and 1 unregistered vehicle at the school zones patrolled.
Police are disappointed with the number of people risking the safety of school children by speeding in the school zones and again ask drivers monitor their speed in school zones.
On-going traffic operations will be conducted in school zones for remainder of the school year with increased enforcement of speed limits.
