At approximately 1:30pm Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were notified of a PLB activation on the Cradle Cirque by AMSA.

The Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a land team of Police Search and Rescue members were activated to the area.

A family of three people, consisting of a mother, son, and daughter from Canberra were located in the emergency shelter on the Cradle Cirque. The helicopter was able to land near the shelter and fly them from the area.

The PLB was activated after the family encountered extreme weather conditions which were exacerbated by minor injuries acquired due to those conditions.
