At 4:40pm on Thursday 20/11/14 Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were notified of an injured waker on the Wineglass Bay Track. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated and located the 56 year old Queensland woman near Wineglass Bay Beach with a lower leg injury.

The helicopter was able to land nearby and she was assisted a short distance by a flight paramedic and a Parks and Wildlife ranger.

She was then flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
