Rescue at Don Heads
At 12:00 pm today police received a call in relation to two people stuck on a cliff face at Don Heads. An 18 year old male from Victoria and a 19 year old female from Devonport had attempted to climb part of the face of Don Heads, approximately 300 metres west of the mouth of the Don River, when they became stuck.
When police arrived at the location, the female was able to make her way down and efforts to talk the male down were unsuccessful. Members from Search and Rescue attended the scene and were able to scale the rock face and assist the male back down.
Acting Sergeant Woodrow from Devonport Police said that he would like to remind all members of the public that whilst the attraction of adventure based outdoor activities may be appealing, many of those activities require proper training, equipment and knowledge and should not be taken lightly. In this circumstance it was pleasing that police were called when the people realised that they were in a difficult situation.
