At about 10:30am on Tuesday 5 March 2013, Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were notified of an injured bushwalker on the Hazards Track, Coles Bay.

Ambulance Tasmania volunteers walked to the patient, a 43 year old Western Australian woman, to assess her condition.

The woman had suffered a compound fracture of her right leg and subsequently the Westpac Police Rescue Helicopter was tasked to attend.

The woman was treated and given pain relief by the flight paramedic before being winched from her location.

She was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
