Reported firearm discharges in Invermay and Mayfield

At around 10.30pm last night police received reports of firearm discharges at Lamont Street, Invermay and Gregory Street, Mayfield.

When police arrived at the residence in Invermay they noticed cartridge impact and damage sustained to the front door and bedroom window of the residence.  Neither of the adults (2) nor any of the children (3) present in the home at the time were injured.

At the same time police responded to a report of firearm discharge outside a residence on Gregory Street, Mayfield.  No one was injured and the property did not sustain any damage.

Uniform, CIB and Forensic Services officers attended the scenes. Police believe the two incidents are linked and are following specific lines of enquiry relating to these matters.

Police are particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the movements of a silver coloured Holden Commodore in Lamont Street around 10.30pm.

Tasmania Police treat all crimes involving firearms seriously and seek assistance from anyone who has information that may assist in the investigation into these crimes.
