Tasmania Police have released the name of the male driver killed in a head on collision on the Bass Highway at Rocky Cape on Monday 19/10/2015.

He was Jason Robert SCOTT, 40 years from Richings Drive in the Launceston suburb of Youngtown.

Mr. SCOTT was killed when the Mazda CX5 he was driving towards Smithton crossed onto the oncoming lane and collided with an east bound Volvo waste disposal truck.

The driver of the truck, a 51 year old man from Burnie has been discharged from hospital.

Police are still investigating the cause of the collision and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
