Recruitment Update
There has been an incredible response to the Tasmania Police recruitment course, and the application process will be placed on hold from close of business today, 2 May 2013.
Nearly 900 Expressions of Interest applications have been received since the process opened on the 8thof April.
“The standard and the number of applications has been overwhelming and we thank everyone who has taken the time to submit an Expression of Interest,” said the Commissioner of Police, Darren Hine.
It is anticipated that a course of approximately 25 recruits will commence at the Tasmania Police Academy in August.
“In addition to the recruit course, it has been decided to hold a ‘fast track’ program for a limited number of applicants with previous policing experience.
“The ‘fast track’ program, for up to 10 applicants, will update the skills of former officers who want to return to the service, or officers applying from other jurisdictions. These officers will be deployed to the areas of greatest operational need,” said Mr Hine.
All applicants will be contacted about the outcome of their EOI by Tasmania Police Recruiting.
“It’s anticipated another recruit course will be held mid-2014, to maintain our officer numbers at 1,120,” said Mr Hine.
