Recovery operation – Mount Ossa
At about 9.30am this morning the operation to recover the body of a 59 year old Canberra man, from Mount Ossa was successfully concluded.
Recovery operations were hampered by poor weather conditions in the area yesterday, leaving a ground party in situ overnight.
Weather in the area had improved overnight, allowing the helicopter to gain access to the area and recover the body of the deceased man, and the remaining rescue personnel.
Tasmania Police would like to particularly thank those members of SES that gave up their time to assist with this operation, without the assistance of committed volunteers these operations would be particularly problematic.
