At about 10.55pm on Wednesday the 15 August 2012, Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service attended a report of a unit on fire at Pioneer Parade, Ravenswood. 

The fire was quickly extinguished and two deceased persons were located inside the unit. Their deaths are believed to be suspicious.

A crime scene has been established and members of the Launceston CIB and Forensics Branch have been called out to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the occupants.
