Ravenswood Arson Attack

Police are investigating an arson attack in Ravenswood last night which destroyed a Warring Street unit.

At around 9:45pm, two men wearing what are believed to be bandanas over their faces have thrown home-made Molotov cocktail bottles at the front of the unit, smashing the windows, and igniting a fire which fully engulfed the property.

A man and woman inside the unit at the time of the fire escaped without injury.

Anyone with information in relation to the fire, or who saw two men acting suspiciously and possibly jumping over fences at the time is urged to contact police.

The men are described as being:

  1. Slim build, around 165cm tall (5’2”) wearing a bandana.
  2. Large build with distinctive left ear and no hair on that side of head.

“This is a targeted arson attack directed at an occupant of the unit,” said Detective Senior Sergeant John Parker of Launceston CIB.

“Launceston CIB are following a particular line of enquiry and urge anyone who can assist to contact Crime Stoppers at crimestopperstas.com.au or 1800 333 000, which can be done anonymously.”
