At approximately 14.10 hrs on Friday the 19^th of April 2013, Police were called to a two vehicle crash on Stony Rise Road near Durkins Road at Quoiba.  The crash involved a north bound black 2006 Hyosung motorcycle which collided with a south bound grey 2009 Mazda utility that was towing a trailer.

The crash occurred when the rider lost control of his motorcycle and crossed onto the incorrect side of the road.  The motorcycle then collided with the drivers side of the utility.

The rider was 16 year old Phillip Jak GONINON of Acacia Hills.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The 34 year old male driver of the Mazda who was from Penguin, was uninjured.

Alcohol, speed and inattention are not believed to be contributing factors. 

Members from Tasmanian Ambulance Service, Tasmanian Fire Service, Devonport Police, Western District Forensic Services, Western District Traffic Services and Western District Crash Investigation attended the scene.
