Public safety advice – mine explosive
Tasmania Police have issued public safety advice in relation to an explosive device that is unaccounted for from a mine site on the West Coast.
The mine operator in Savage River has today reported a missing 400 gram cast booster, which is an explosive.
The mine is undertaking checks to determine the whereabouts of the booster; it’s likely the booster was used in mine operations yesterday and was not recorded.
However, the booster is considered to be extremely dangerous and if seen it should not be handled and the public should move well away from it.
The booster is a bright orange round tube, approximately 15cm long and 6cm in diameter. It is marked MAXPRIME BOOSTER 400G – DANGER EXPLOSIVE.
The mine is working with Worksafe Tasmania and Tasmania Police to determine the whereabouts of the booster.
If found Tasmania Police should be notified immediately on 000.
