A 66 year old Wynyard man has been arrested and charged after failing to comply with a police direction to leave Lapoinya State Forest.

A total of 9 people were given ‘directions’ to leave the site area;

Of those 9 people –

• 5 people elected to leave voluntarily without any further action taken by police;

• 3 people were escorted from the site area and will be the subject of Police Infringement Notices.

• A 66 year old Wynyard man failed to comply with the direction and leave, and was therefore arrested with failing to comply with a requirement given by a police officer (under s. 6(4) of the Workplaces [Protection from Protestors] Act 2014.

The arrested man was transported to the Burnie Police Station, charged and bailed.  He was then transported home.
