PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY DURING THE HOLIDAY PERIOD

Police are reminding people to lock their vehicles at all times and to avoid leaving valuable items in or on vehicles whilst they are unattended.

This warning comes during the holiday period where many people are travelling throughout the state often with valuable items in and on their vehicles.

“Car burglaries are an opportunistic crime where offenders look for easy targets” Northern CIB Detective Sergeant Darren Turner said.

On 9 January 2016, a beach Kayak valued at $600 was stolen from the roof of vehicle parked unattended at Greens Beach.

“We want people to enjoy the holiday period and to remind them that they should be vigilant about the security of their belongings when attending holiday locations” Detective Sergeant Turner added.

Information can be reported to police on 131 444 or relayed anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
