Prospect Vale woman charged with stealing

A 24-year-old Prospect Vale woman has today been charged with stealing and unlawful possession of property following a search of a residence on Wednesday.

The woman was arrested and charged with three counts of stealing and one count of unlawful possession. She was bailed to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court next month.

The charges relate to incidents at several Launceston businesses, and police will allege approximately $700 worth of stolen property was recovered, along with a number of other items they believe were unlawfully in the woman’s possession.

Senior Constable Sharee SMITH said police would like to thank members of the public and Launceston businesses who provided police with information that assisted with investigations.

“Shop stealing is a serious matter which costs businesses considerable amounts of money every year,” she said.

“Anyone who has information that may assist us to identify any people stealing from shops, or where stolen property can be found, can report the information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au.”
