Two men, aged 24 and 25, will face charges of Criminal Code Assault in relation to an alleged attack on an inmate at Risdon Prison.

A 35 year old man was in the maximum security exercise yard just after 3pm yesterday when he was approached by the two men.

It will be alleged the two men assaulted the 35 year old, leaving him with serious facial injuries. The victim was treated at the Royal Hobart Hospital and has since returned to prison.

The date for court is not yet determined.
