Port Sorell Incident 6 June 2017
Two brothers were arrested at Port Sorell yesterday following an evade.
Detective Inspector Kim Steven stated “Devonport CIB were investigating a couple of burglaries, when the brothers came to our attention. Observations of their criminal and driving behaviour determined that various resources were required for safe resolution.”
“Yesterday we utilised various resources, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and road spikes to assist us in safely arresting the offenders.”
As a result of the arrests, two vehicles were impounded.
The two brothers appeared in an out-of-hours court last night and were remanded in custody.
35-year-old Dean Nichols has been charged with:
Burglary, stealing, motor vehicle stealing, evade police, possession of stolen property, unlicensed driving, unregistered motor vehicle, among others.
And 31-year-old Andrew Nichols has been charged with:
Burglary, Stealing, Motor Vehicle Stealing, Evade Police, Disqualified driving, using an Unregistered motor vehicle, among others.
“Tasmania Police have a large range of resources available to us which we will continue to use in arresting offenders so that we can place them before the courts to answer for their criminal behaviour,” said Detective Inspector Steven.
Investigations relating to the burglary at Hazel Brothers at Elizabeth Town between 14th and 16th April 2017 continue.
