Port Davey search

Tasmania Police is making preparations for a ground party to join the search for two fishermen missing near Port Davey.

 

The Police Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the PV Vigilant spent today searching coastline near Point Lucy, where the men’s overturned dinghy was found washed ashore yesterday.

Crew members from the helicopter were landed on the shore to conduct a search of the coast today.  Tomorrow a more intensive search will be conducted with 5 search and rescue officers flown into the site.

Tasmania Police is using mapping provided by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority to assist in determining the most appropriate search area.

The weather in the area is poor, with large swells.  The PV Vigilant will and the helicopter will resume the search tomorrow morning.
