Police thank public for cycle hit and run info
Tasmania Police would like to thank people who came forward with information following a hit and run of a cyclist in Devonport yesterday.
Macey Stewart, an 18-year-old star cyclist was hit during a training ride on Tarleton St in East Devonport at about 2pm.
Investigating officer, Constable Dean Wotherspoon, said the response to the public appeal for information had been fantastic.
“We had a number of people come forward with information about what they saw.
“As a result of this information we’ve got a specific line of enquiry that we’re looking into.
“The best thing for the driver to do would be to come forward to police.
“Thank you very much to those people who got in contact with us.”
He said he had spoken to Macey’s mother today.
“Macey caught her flight this morning to the Australian Institute of Sport in Adelaide as planned.
“She’s feeling bruised and sore but otherwise she is ok,” Constable Wotherspoon said.
Anyone with any further information about the crash or the driver of the vehicle is asked to contact police on 131 444.
