Police seize vehicle involved in New Year’s Eve burnouts – Warrane
Police have seized a vehicle that was involved in burnouts on Cambridge Road, Warrane, on New Year’s Eve.
Around midnight on New Year’s Eve residents of Cambridge Road, Warrane reported to Tasmania Police that a motor vehicle was performing burn-outs in the street. The burn-outs were extensive and caused considerable disruption and risk to the community, as well as damage to the road. The vehicle had been modified to undertake the burn-outs, and was bearing no registration plates.
As a result of information provided by the public, Tasmania Police have been able to identify the vehicle and its owner.
On 2 January 2019 the offending vehicle was located by police at Clarendon Vale. The vehicle was confiscated, and it is likely that it will subject to a forfeiture application in due course.
The investigation is continuing with the view of charging the offending driver. Anyone with information in relation to the burnouts that were conducted in Cambridge Road, Warrane on New Year’s Eve is requested to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au.
