Police seeking help to find missing man near Pioneer – North-East Tasmania

Police are seeking assistance from the public to help locate missing man Sean (pronounced Seen) Irwin Mansell, 52, of Launceston.

Mr Mansell was visiting a friend on a block of land at Swain Hill, near Pioneer in the state’s North East, over the weekend.  He left that address on foot on Monday morning 11 June and hasn’t been seen since.

It is not unusual for Mansell to catch a lift back to Launceston, or to visit friends at St Helens. However, he hasn’t been seen or heard from since Monday morning, and this is unusual.

Police are concerned for Mr Mansell’s welfare, and that he may have become disoriented and got lost in the area. A search and rescue operation has started, with SES and Police to search the area overnight.

Mr Mansell was wearing dark blue track pants, Blundstone boots, a dark long sleeved top, a leather vest, and an ‘Akubra’ type hat.

Police are seeking assistance from anyone who may have seen Mr Mansell in the last few days, or knows where he may be.  Any information can be provided by calling Tasmania Police on 131444, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
